The Victron Energy 500A / 50mV shunt is needed for current measurement with analog or digital monitors, where the current is usually measured with a small voltage across a shunt. The quick connect PCB on the standard 500A / 50mV shunt, which comes standard with the BMV battery monitors, can also be mounted on this shunt. No PCB is included with this shunt.
In the case of Victron Shunts 1000 – 6000A this is a voltage of 50mV. The smaller the measurement voltage on the shunt, the smaller the impacts on the rest of the system’s circuit. 50mV offers an excellent result. The small voltage dropped on this resistor is evaluated by a measuring device – such as the Victron BMV 700 battery monitor – which then displays the amperage, or related values.
